We have recently successfully recruited staff to expand the Community Matron Service.
With this in mind, we are aware that the capacity of the Community Matron Team will also expand and would like your input on where you feel the CMS could support your practice.
We are acutely aware that the team could be used to plug commissioning gaps and will be addressing that should that occur. Should the majority wish for services that do align with commissioning gaps, we should only do this temporarily to help the practices and patients who are in danger from such gaps. We must ensure that we do not ‘plug the gap’ and prevent ourselves from receiving the services that should be commissioned. We do not wish to use the matron team on this level. We feel very strongly about using the matron service as it should be used, and to the top of their skillsets, thus fiscally getting the best outcome also.
